Welcome!

I broke up with Facebook today and started a blog.

Sounds a little strange, I know. I liked Facebook. I loved being able to go to one place to see what all my family and friends are up to. I love posting cute things about my children - so much so that they began saying, "Mom, PLEASE don't put this on FB!" Once you get "good" at status updates, you view everything differently. How often I've thought, "My life is just funny! My friends will surely get a kick out of that!"

The problem is, FB began consuming too much of my time. I just can't "not comment" on all the wonderful things my friends or their children do and say. It became quite clear that the Lord was asking me to give FB a rest. I may reactivate my account some day. I may not. For now though, my family can see what the Jobes are up to here.

  1. Glad to have met you via fb and stay current with your family here. I have a dilemma. I did the frosting Angelina and froze it and then I tried to get it off the wax paper and basically wrecked it. It's now in two pieces. When I try again should I grease the wax paper before doing the frosting tracing? It looked SO CUTE! Thank you for the idea!

  2. Hey Lindsay,

When I did my cake, I just traced the coloring sheet onto wax paper with black icing. (Just like you are tracing with tracing paper). I only did the outline of the coloring page. Then I turned the wax paper Angelina image upside down onto an iced cake. Then I colored in the lines on the cake itself. Does this make sense? I'm so sorry yours broke!

I've been playing around with blogs. I almost forgot that I put this together! I've been playing mostly a Wordpress and have done a couple of entries:

Do you pay for upgrades? I want to be able to post video. I can't do that at WP without upgrading. I notice you have a video on your blog. Does blogger do this free? I was so surprised/happy to see your comment. I haven't told anyone that I've started one yet!

I still have my FB account. I am just not allowing myself to log on. I deactivated and then my dad got upset about it and the next day I had 2 15 minute calls (that could have been taken care of in a sec on FB) because I couldn't be reached. So.. I am giving up logging on for Lent :) Because messages come to my e-mail, I can still be reached that way.

  3. I considered giving up fb for Lent but then realized it would make life very tricky. I do most of my church stuff and friend stuff and playdate stuff and just keeping in touch with fam and friends on it so in a way it would be punishing everyone if I stepped off. But I do need to limit my time on it. It's all too easy to look for a distraction on the computer when life seems dull or the kids are busy and I don't feel like doing laundry or dishes =) I found y our site through the comment you made on my blog.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'm using very soft frosting (from the store) instead of the harder stuff that decorators use for flowers and stuff. I might add more powdered sugar to it and try again.

My videos are free. Sometimes I have trouble posting them. I think they have to be 2 minutes or less. But I've never paid for anything on blogger, in 3 years of using it.
